Following the Nov. 5 election that brought President-elect Donald Trump to power, a United States man named Anthony Nephew shot himself, his wife, his former partner, and their two children.

The 46-year-old Minnesota father was angered by Trump’s election, according to authorities who spoke to the New York Post on Sunday.

Duluth Police Chief Mike Seinois said Friday that the 46-year-old shooter “had mental health issues.”

On Thursday afternoon, authorities found Anthony Nephew’s former partner, Erin Abramson, 47, and her son, Jacob Nephew, 15, shot to death.

After identifying Anthony Nephew as a suspect, police found his 45-year-old wife, Katherine Nephew, and 7-year-old son, Oliver Nephew, dead from gunshot wounds inside the family home nearby.

Before the tragedy occurred, Anthony Nephew had been sharing left-wing, anti-Trump posts on his Facebook account.

In July, Anthony Nephew wrote, “My mental health and the world can no longer peacefully coexist.

‘I am terrified of religious fanatics imposing their false beliefs on me and my family. The thought of being burned at the stake as a witch or crucified on a burnt cross is heartbreaking.

People actually believe that I or my children are Satan, or the Antichrist, or the boogeyman they fear this week.”

In another post, he accused Republicans of “making it harder for women to leave abusive relationships.

Gilead is coming,” he wrote, citing the dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale, which became a Hulu series.

Anthony Nephew shared other political posts, including images of former President Barack Obama, Trump, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris. The word “hate” under Trump’s face corresponds to the word “hate,” while the words “hope,” “heal,” and “grow” correspond to the Democratic politicians.

He wrote in July, “No one will care, but as an independent voter, I sincerely hope that both political parties in this country choose better candidates.” ‘There has to be a better choice than the two choices of fascism or non-fascism.’

Anthony Nephew previously issued a chilling warning about his own mental health struggles, writing in the Duluth News Tribune in 2021.

He wrote, “Mental health in this country is stigmatized, ignored, or treated as a burden to be carried alone, with little help and even less understanding.

Americans are in denial that they suffer from mental health.”

Police in Duluth, a city of nearly 90,000 people about 135 miles north of Minneapolis, have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
