An official of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, has denied insinuations in some quarters that the Commission headquarters along Aba Road, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State, was on Tuesday sealed by the Police.
Didactic Information Hut reports that there was a rumor about the sealing of the RSIEC Headquarters on social media allegedly by supporters of the FCT Minister. Those who shared posts about the purported sealing had said it was in a bid to compel the commission to obey the judgment of Justice Peter Lifu who had ruled against the local government election.
But the Commissioner in Charge of Civic Education and Public Affairs, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, Tamunotonye Profit-Tobins, says it is not true that the Commission has been sealed by the Police. He said the presence of the Police Officers is at the instance of the Commission and part of its preparation for the 5th October 2024 local government election in Rivers State.

Gov Fubara had earlier visited the office of RSIEC and vowed to personally confront anyone or security agencies who tries to frustrate the plan to conduct the local government election.
