3 PDP State Lawmakers Defect To APC In Kaduna

Three members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kaduna State House of Assembly have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing their departure to the commendable performance of Governor Uba Sani.
The lawmakers involved are Henry Mara, representing the Jaba State Constituency, Emmanuel Kantiok from the Zonkwa Constituency, and Samuel Kamabai, who represents the Zangon Kataf Constituency.
Their shift to the APC occurred within their respective wards.
This defection follows closely on the heels of Amos Magaji, the representative for Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, who also switched allegiance from the PDP to the APC just two days prior.
The three legislators expressed that their decision was motivated by a desire to align with the ruling party at the state level, citing the exemplary leadership and accomplishments of Governor Sani. They emphasized the importance of their constituents’ political future and their belief that they could better serve their communities within the ruling party.
Mara, who also serves as the spokesperson for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, remarked that the PDP’s influence and dominance in Southern Kaduna has significantly diminished.
He noted that the achievements of Governor Sani have mitigated previous hostilities towards the ruling party, leading to a restoration of peace, security, and unity in Southern Kaduna under the current administration.
Mara further observed that the governor’s accomplishments have effectively diminished the opposition parties’ presence in the state.
“A significant realignment in the power dynamics of the state House of Assembly is anticipated, as we expect additional opposition members to leave the PDP for the APC,” Mara stated.
Kantiok added that the peace that had been absent in Kaduna for the past eight years has been restored under Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, asserting that the PDP’s stronghold in Southern Kaduna has been fundamentally altered by the governor’s credible governance.
