2024 WASSCE Private Candidates’ Results Released By WAEC

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in its second series.
A total of 2,577 candidates had their results withheld due to suspected examination malpractice.
This information was shared in a statement on Sunday by Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Public Affairs Officer of WAEC.
Adesina reported that approximately 65,023 candidates participated in the examination in Nigeria from October 25 to December 20, 2024, across various centers nationwide.
She further revealed that at least 34,878 candidates, which equates to 53.64 percent, achieved credit or higher in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Candidates are encouraged to check their results at www.waecdirect.org and can access digital copies of their certificates at www.waec.org.
Additionally, Adesina mentioned that those with withheld results should visit the WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice Portal to address the allegations made against them.
“Reported cases will undergo investigation, including the collection of evidence and submissions from candidates. The findings will be reviewed by the relevant Committee of the Council for a conclusive decision.
“The decisions made by the Committee will be communicated directly to the candidates involved,” Adesina stated.
The WAEC spokesperson noted that among the successful candidates, 16,886 (48.41 percent) were male, while 17,992 (51.58 percent) were female.
She also highlighted that in the second series of 2022 and 2023, 42.16 percent and 44.29 percent of candidates, respectively, achieved credit or higher in at least five subjects, including English and Mathematics.
Statistical analysis indicates that 43,923 candidates (67.55 percent) attained credit or above in at least five subjects, irrespective of their performance in English Language or Mathematics.
